Another Obama deceit exposed

You remember President Obama’s straight-faced assertion that penalties associated with Obamacare could not be considered a tax.
He snidely mocked his political enemies, who exposed his deceit, in this interview half a decade ago:
“My critics say everything is a tax increase. My critics say that I’m taking over every sector of the economy. You know that.
Look, we can have a legitimate debate about whether or not we’re going to have an individual mandate or not, but…”
When asked point blank if the new costs imposed by Obamacare mandates were a tax, he was adamant:
“I absolutely reject that notion.”
His own IRS, the same one that targeted his political enemies and helped swing the 2012 election his way, has released 2014 tax forms. They show, of course, on line 64, the surtax imposed by Obamacare.
Mr. Obama has been caught in so many untruths in the five years since this interview, that this is hardly newsworthy. Nonetheless, it is important to remember the breadth of the man’s deceit in light of pressure to forge “comprehensive immigration reform.”
This blog is more open to reform than most of its readers. But how can anyone trust Barack Obama to enforce a sweeping new bill with integrity?
One can’t.
The Obamacare tax denial is but one small example of a much larger issue. Barack Obama can’t be trusted.
Once again, as it was when contemplating Obamacare, a key (and scary) word is “comprehensive”. Neither of these situations desperately called for “comprehensive” bills — we could approach each of them piecemeal. Immigration is, in fact, much easier to deal with piecemeal than health care would have been. Just the other day I saw a great nine-step plan for passing incremental legislation that would, perhaps over the period of several months, or even a year, address pretty much all of the really serious immigration issues, but would prioritize, consider, and pass them one at a time. Made sense to me.
