Economic martyrdom in the land of Sodom and Gomorrah
When my family and I started our company 40 years ago, we were working out of a garage on a $600 bank loan, assembling miniature picture frames. Our first retail store wasn’t much bigger than most people’s living rooms, but we had faith that we would succeed if we lived and worked according to God’s word.
From there, Hobby Lobby has become one of the nation’s largest arts and crafts retailers, with more than 500 locations in 41 states …
The brazen lie
As of earlier today, the Obamacare website STILL stuck to the lie that if you like your current health insurance, you can keep it.
I posted the screen above as proof.
As recently as September 26th, Barack Obama was STILL making the same claim. Amazingly, just five days before the Obamacare exchanges were to open and the lie would be exposed, the president stuck to the lie.
Here is the question: are these people stupid, arrogant, or sociopaths?
"Did you ever meet a normal human?"
Ronald Reagan was a man of the people.
This Hollywood Democrat landed a job hosting television’s new General Electric Theater. His life would never be the same. For one thing, he owned a piece of this wildly popular show, which is how he made his fortune.
For another, as part of his job, GE sent him all over the country to visit their plants and give speeches to their employees and customers as a PR move. Some quarter of a million people heard him speak over an eight year period.
Mr. Reagan gave a great speech, which made him popular with the working class Americans who worked in GE’s plants and factories. But something more important than celebrity came out of all his exposure to working class America. He had a chance to listen to normal people …

Pro lifers can use Roe v. Wade to end human abortion
For 40 years, nine unelected men and women on the Supreme Court have played God with innocent human life.
They have invented laws that condemned to painful deaths without trial more than 56 million babies for the crime of being “inconvenient.”
In 1973, the U.S. Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade ruling forced abortion-on-demand down our nation’s throat.
In the past, many in the pro-life movement have felt limited to protecting a life here and there — passing some limited law to slightly control abortion in the more outrageous cases.
But some pro-lifers always seem to tiptoe around the Supreme Court, hoping they won’t be offended.
Now the time to grovel before the Supreme Court is over …
How much longer will we tolerate the abuse scandal?
Our kids are still getting raped and abused.
Lives are being shattered, seemingly on a daily basis, by authority figures our kids have been conditioned to trust.
A study quantified the carnage: ten percent of our kids that come in contact with this respected institution have been victims of sexual misconduct, rape, or sexual assault. Ten percent! Shouldn’t something be done?
Why won't the Obama Government ever shoot straight with us?
By Tom Quiner “Existing policies were grandfathered in. If a policy was not extended, then that was up to the insurance company, probably because it would no longer be a very competitive policy.” This was the defense made of Obamacare by a loyal, if contrarian, Quiner’s Diner reader. I thank him for his comment. He…
Read MorePolitical lies vs. political untruths
A lie is determined by intention.
If someone makes a claim knowing the claim is false, that is a lie. He intended to deceive, or lie, by intentionally stating an untruth.
If someone makes a claim he sincerely believed to be true, and it later turns out not to be true, that is not a lie. He did not intend to deceive and believed in the veracity of his claim, even if later events prove those claims wrong.
Most politicians speak untruths at some point, simply because they cannot always control legislative outcomes.
George H. W. Bush famously promised, “Read my lips, no new taxes.”
Obama's credibility is in a free fall
What is your word worth? Everything.
Sadly, President Obama’s credibility is in a free fall. In fairness, every politician, conservative or liberal, is going to say things on the campaign trail that they simply can’t live up to. Sometimes they were blowing smoke in the first place. Sometimes, political realities get in the way.
President Obama’s credibility has gone beyond the vagaries of campaign promises run amuck. His integrity is questionable.
Bluster vs. blather
Let us contrast the president’s rhetoric for two different disasters …
