The anti-Roosevelt

By Tom Quiner

Obama’s foreign policy takes a beating in the Mid East.

Teddy Roosevelt famously said, “talk softly, but carry a big stick.”

Barack Obama prefers to bow and scrape to our enemies and throw the stick away.

Today, the results of the Obama foreign policy of slavish slobbering toward the theocratic thugs of Islam are on full display. Demonstrations have broken out at our embassies in 17 nations, including  Egypt, Libya, Sudan, Tunisia, Morocco, Yemen, Lebanon, London and Berlin.

Charles Krauthammer puts it in perspective:

“What we are seeing is the meltdown and collapse of the Obama policy on the Muslim world. The irony is that it began in Cairo. The same place where Obama, at the beginning of his presidency, said he wanted a new beginning with mutual respect. He was implying under the other presidents, particularly Bush, there was a lack of mutual respect. That was an insult to the United States, which has gone to war six times in the last 20 years on behalf of oppressed Muslims, in Kuwait, in Kosovo, Bosnia, Iraq, Afghanistan, and elsewhere.”

At the same time that all of Mr. Obama’s cooing toward Islam has failed, we face a “fiscal cliff” which will impose mandatory spending cuts on the military. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta warns that these cuts would shrink the Navy to the smallest it has been since WWI,  while slashing the Army and Marine Corps down to its pre-WWII size. It would create the smallest Air Force in our history.

Bow. Scrape. Throw the stick away.

Welcome to Barack Obama’s foreign policy.
