Is he human?
That is the question we must answer as we consider the fate of the 20 week old person in his mother’s womb.
If he is a person, then he is protected by the 14th Amendment to the Constitution.
The author of the Roe v Wade decision, Harry Blackmun, said this distinction is critical.
Mr. Blackmun wrote the majority decision in Roe v Wade in 1973 which led to unfettered human abortion from conception through nine months. He said,
“If the suggestion of personhood [of the unborn] is established, the appellant’s case, of course, collapses, for the fetus’ right to life is then guaranteed specifically by the [Fourteenth Amendment].”
Since life and death hinges on this decision, Democrats MUST answer this question: is the pre born life in the womb human? If not, what is he?
On what basis should his human and Constitutional rights be denied?
Nancy Pelosi was asked this question point blank recently. She refused to answer this very legitimate question as lawmakers considered a bill that would ban human abortion when the pre born can feel pain (20 weeks).
Here is what she said:
“You know what, what we’re talking about on the floor of the House is something that says politicians should determine what effects the health of a woman, her life, her health, and the rest. I don’t think it’s up to politicians to do that. And that’s why we are very overwhelmingly opposing what is going on on the floor of the House.”
She went on to say:
“The life and the health of the mother is what is preeminent in when a decision is made about a woman’s reproductive health. It isn’t an ideological fight, it is a personal health issue.”
We know this statement is not accurate, according to the Alan Guttmacher Institute, a semi autonomous branch of Planned Parenthood.
Their research reveals the various reasons women give for aborting their babies in the 2nd trimester:
71%–Woman did not realize she was pregnant
48%–Difficulty making arrangements for the abortion
33%–Afraid to tell parents or partner
24%–Needed time to make the decision
8%–Hoped their relationship would change.
In other words, the notion that women abort their babies in the second trimester because of “reproductive health reasons” is incorrect, according to the abortion experts.
These abortions take place out of convenience to the mother, not in the name of health.
The intellectual and moral underpinnings of the Democrat’s pro abortion policies are discounted by data.
In that light, we must press Democrats to answer the question,
“what is the pre born entity at 20 weeks? You fight legislation that would prevent their little bodies from being torn limb from limb in the womb, knowing they feel the excruciating pain associated with unanesthetized dismemberment. We don’t even allow lab rats to be treated this poorly. Why do you make an exception for the pre born?
Why do you deny them personhood?”
