Russell Wilson promotes celibacy

Russell Wilson & Ciara

Two news stories today involving sex:

1. According to the Associated Press, Bill Cosby testified in 2005 that he got drugs in order to get women who were not his wife to have sex with him.

2. Seattle Seahawk’s star quarterback, Russell Wilson, said he and his celebrity girl friend, Ciara, are saving sex for marriage.

More than two dozen women have come forward claiming Mr. Cosby laced them with drugs and had sex with them while they were unconscious. Mr. Cosby’s 2005 testimony lends credence to his accusers’ allegations.

Bill Cosby

Bill Cosby is an iconic, and once beloved, entertainer. He has been a role model for the primacy of family, not just for African-Americans, but for all Americans. Now his legacy is in tatters.

Russell Wilson is a celebrity athlete who proudly proclaims his Christianity in the public square. Even more, the once-married Wilson proclaims his celibacy in his current relationship:

“She was on tour, she was traveling, and I was looking at her in the mirror … and she was sitting there and God spoke to me and said ‘I need you to lead her’… and so I told her right then and there, what would you do if we took all that extra stuff off the table, and did it Jesus’ way?

For me, I knew that God had brought me into her life to bless her, and for her to bless me. And to bless so many people with the impact that she has [and] that I have. We’re not going to be perfect by any means — you know, life’s not perfect, nobody is perfect. But he’s anointed both of us. I know that he’s calling for us to do something miraculous., something special. And I told her, and she completely agreed with the fact that… ‘can we love each other without that?” And if you can love somebody without that, then you can really love somebody.”

Good for Russell Wilson. The African-American community has been ravaged by men who impregnate their girl friends, and then abandon them. They need more role models like this guy.

Let us pray that Russell Wilson can help undo some of the damage wrought by Bill Cosby.

Good for Russell Wilson, I did not know this about him.

Me either. I cheered against his team 2 Super Bowls ago. Cheered for his team last year. But I am impressed with him as a man as much as I am for his quarterback skills.

I rooted against him two years ago too. Still not a fan of his team but more and more impressed by him as a man the more I learn about him. The world definitely needs more role models like him.

And guess which one is getting the most coverage in the MSM?

Steve, as you might guess, I don’t EVER watch MSM. However, I can make a pretty good guess. 😉

I can’t stand the Seahawks, but Russel Wilson is an excellent example. Kudos to him.

A great testimony. Too bad the lib. media doesn’t think this is news worthy. No sensationalism.
