Understanding Trump’s appeal
After 7 1/2 years of lavish cost overruns, Wollman Rink was still closed.
New York’s bloated and union-dominated bureaucracy was too inept to get the ice frozen on a lousy-stinking skating rink after 7 1/2 years of trying.
In desperation, they turned to real estate mogul, Donald Trump, who took over the project at no profit.
He got the thing rebuilt and re-opened in 3 1/2 months. Oh … and it came in under budget…

I have a friend who is a passionate supporter of Dr. Ben Carson.
Dr. Carson’s campaign just had its top three people resign, leaving the status of his campaign in doubt.
Nonetheless, Dr. Carson’s impressive resume’ shouldn’t be forgotten, as Tiffinay Compiano writes in today’s Des Moines Register:

Why favor Islamic refugees over Christian refugees?
“We should speak out for Muslims
During an interfaith prayer in the Capitol rotunda on Dec. 13, Protestant pastor and concentration camp survivor, Martin Niemoeller, was quoted: “First they came for the Communists, but I was not a Communist so I did not speak out. Then they came for the Socialists and the Trade Unionists, but I was neither, so I did not speak out. Then they came for the Jews, but I was not a Jew so I did not speak out. And when they came for me, there was no one left to speak out for me.” [Capitol rotunda hosts community prayer.] If we don’t speak out for Muslims, who will speak out for us?”

Even more, says Whittle, Trump advances a consistent message, which he wears on his hat…

God sent man that little Baby 2000 years ago as an act of love. In His brief 33 years on this planet, Jesus reinforced the virtue of humility taught to Him by his Mother.
He was far more concerned with the lowly than the wealthy. He revered the humble at the same time that he challenged the prideful…

At least these companies didn’t go broke. But they successfully suckered us for a nice chunk of change to set themselves up in non-energy businesses that produce stuff at a profit, something that green energy can’t do without massive subsidies.
If green energy is so good, let the greenies get their cash from private venture capitalists, not the taxpayers.

“It borders on the misanthropic, not to mention mean-spirited, to want to deny nearly all of your fellow citizens the joy of having their Christmas parties called Christmas parties or force them to replace “Merry Christmas” with “Happy Holidays.” A majority-Christian country that treats non-Christians so well deserves better.”

“Assault rifles” are very popular, because they are lightweight and accurate, but not particularly powerful. In fact, they’re not very good for deer hunting because they don’t have enough kick to take them down. Some states don’t allow assault rifles for hunting, not because they are too powerful, but because they’re not powerful enough.
