'Climate change' news you don't hear
The Obama White House pumped out an 829 page report called, “The National Climate Assessment.”
True to form, the summary, which is the only part the mainstream media (MSM) reads, mimics the president’s mantra that “this is not some distant problem of the future. This is a problem that is affecting Americans right now.”
Climate change policies hurt the poor
“Africa is the renewable utopia, getting 50 per cent of its energy from renewables—though nobody wants to emulate it. In 1971, China derived 40 per cent of its energy from renewables. Since then, it has powered its incredible growth almost exclusively on heavily polluting coal, lifting a historic 680 million people out of poverty. Today, China gets a trifling 0.23 per cent of its energy from unreliable wind and solar.”

“It all comes down to science vs. faith.”
This comment from a Quiner’s Diner reader accurately captures the times. But it shouldn’t.
Some fundamentalist adherents of various religions hold faith-based beliefs which fly in the face of science.
By the same token, some atheists and scientists hold beliefs they claim are based on science even when they fly in the face of science, religion, and philosophy …
"Climate porn"
Nate Silver is a statistician with an impressive track-record of using numbers to predict the future. A Democrat, he predicted both of Barack Obama’s victories with amazing accuracy. Even more, he predicted the results of Congressional races better than anyone else on the scene.
He has used his statistical renown to spawn a new website, FiveThirtyEight, which utilizes an approach called “data journalism,” a far-cry from the “advocacy journalism” (aka biased journalism) of the mainstream journalism.
Mr. Silver’s science journalist, Roger Pielke Jr., is less enamored with the claims of the “climate change” crowd than the mainstream media, characterizing it as “climate porn:”
A return to the Politically-Correct Coffee Shop
“Come on, Tom, live dangerously. It won’t kill you to experience a little diversity.”
My liberal friend, Libby, had dragged me to the Politically-Correct Coffee Shop. She was insistent that I enter the “Liberals Only” door.
“But I’m not a liberal. And the service stinks on this side. And it’s expensive. And they discriminate on the basis of race.”
Libby wouldn’t take no for an answer and dragged me through a door I swore I’d never walk through. As my eyes grew accustomed to the light, I saw that the menu had changed, and had become, against all odds, even more offensive:
U.S. energy jobs are being sacrificed in vain
Global-warming alarmists fret that man-made carbon emissions are harming the climate.
To ameliorate this hypothetical damage to our environment, these alarmists, which includes President Obama, wish to impose various economic schemes which will cost the U.S. jobs and raise energy prices …

Do you think the earth could survive a thousand atomic bombs going off at once in the same place? Well it did. I was a kid when it happened …

One of my best friends is a liberal. I think she’s okay with that label. She is one of the finest people I know, a truly beautiful human being. She is a lifelong Roman Catholic whose Church holds a central place in her life. Her faith has been her rock in getting her through life’s vicissitudes. I respect her and I love her. I am truly amazed at how differently we see the world …
