A quiet tidal wave of hope

Sluttiness is chic.

If you watched MTV’s Video Music Awards, and I didn’t, you would have seen singers Miley Cyrus and Lady Gaga try to out-slut the other.

Harsh words, I know, but accurate.

This is what the American culture dispenses to our kids. I was kept in the loop by various postings on Facebook regaling and reviling the antics of these scantily clad chantreuses. Even the Fox News website featured photos of their sexually-charged gyrations.

The culture doesn’t let you ignore the slut chic.

Millions watched the show. Facebook and Twitter buzzed the next day.

At the same time the media pays homage to slut, they are missing a remarkable movement of love, of hope, and yes, even of change. It is the youth-driven pro life movement, a movement awash with young women who view chastity as a compliment, not a sneer; who view children as precious, not an inconvenience; and who view life as hope, and human abortion as death to the innocent.

Their philosophy clashes with a culture that mocks innocence at every level, whether in the womb or out.

These pro life kids proudly display placards at pro life events which proclaim that “social justice begins in the womb.” The MTV crowd are probably unfamiliar with the term “social justice.”

The National Abortion Rights Action League is worried. They admit that their own polling reveals they are losing young voters.

Their own survey found that 51 percent of pro-life voters age 30 or younger believe abortion is a very important issue for them when voting. Only 26 percent of pro-choice voters feel as strongly toward human abortion.

The annual March for Life that takes place around the anniversary (January 22) of the infamous Roe v. Wade decision is relentlessly growing. The media bends over backwards to ignore it, but it’s getting awfully hard.

Earlier this year, some 650,000 pilgrims, most of them youth, braved frigid weather to march in Washington D.C. for the cause of Life. They proclaim themselves as the “pro life generation,” as you can see in the photo above. I saw the photo on Facebook this morning. It comes from a pro life organization at a local university.

This quiet tidal wave of hope lovingly spreads its message on social media, on our college campuses, and in the voting booth. Although the mainstream media ignores them, the human abortion industry doesn’t.

Nancy Keenan stepped down as head of NARAL last year out of acknowledgement that they are losing the under 30 voters. She said they need a “change of tactics.”

Marjorie Dannenfelser disagrees. She is the president of the pro life Susan B. Anthony List:

“This is not about tactics or strategy. This is about the youth trending pro-life …”

It’s interesting. We need more people in this country. Thirty-five states have a negative fertility rate. We need more taxpayers to pay for the lavish entitlement structure erected by liberals in this country. And yet liberals enthusiastically support human abortion.

Why?

Because ultimately, they view each birth as a cost to society.

Our youthful pro lifers disagree. They view each new life as an opportunity.

This quiet tidal wave of hope is washing over our land and slowly, but surely, bringing true hope and change to America, not the phony kind touted by our president that is built on the backs of human abortion victims.

As the old Gershwin song put it, “Love is sweeping the country.” Watch out, America. the pro life generation is here.
