New data on Obamanomics is chilling
By Tom Quiner The new job numbers are out. Senator Jeff Sessions reacted: “Today’s jobs numbers are only enough to tread even with population growth, maintaining unemployment at 6.3 percent. When you include discouraged workers, the unemployment rate doubles to an alarming 12.2 percent. There are still 3.2 million fewer full-time employed persons than there…

San Jose boosted their minimum wage to $10 per hour.
This happened a year ago. Minimum wage detractors warned of dire consequences to San Jose if they proceeded. Apparently, none of these dire consequences came true.
A Facebook friend of mine posted an article which pointed this all out, and added this sarcastic comment:
At least his foreign policy has been good
Is there a lesson here for Republicans? I think there is. I would not get too excited at advancing the cause of a certain conservative Senator who has but two years of experience on the national stage.
We need an experienced adult to try to undo some of the damage the Obama Government has inflicted on the world, not a conservative version of Mr. Obama.
The new normal under Obama
What was the purpose of the trillion dollar stimulus? To create jobs.
The chart below shows the abject failure of the effort as the employment rate has moved to its lowest level since the last failed president, Jimmy Carter …
The minimum wage is a cruel joke
The minimum wage issue is an easy one.
If you force an employer to pay someone more than they’re worth, that employer will hire fewer people. Worse, he may let employees go.
The minimum wage is a cruel piece of legislation because it deprives young workers of entry-level employment opportunities …

Can I put you on?
What do Elton John and Barack Obama have in common?
A song.
Today is the 43rd anniversary of Mr. John’s first live album titled 11.17.70. It was recorded on November 17th, 1970, in the A & R Studios in New York and was broadcast live on radio.
This album was one of my first exposures to Mr. John’s music, and I was quite taken with it. I’m a piano player. Most of the rock music of the mid and late 60s was driven by the electric guitar. I like rock music that is driven by the piano. I like it even better when accompanied by strong melody.
That’s what Elton delivered then and now: pop rock music with infectious melodies and great piano accompaniment.
Listening to some of the tracks from 11.17.70 today, I couldn’t help but think of President Obama as I reacquainted myself with the song, “Can I put you on?” which I’ve linked above …
That old clunker is looking better by the minute
A loyal Quiner’s Diner reader fired me an e-mail with his take on the economic affairs of America.
I like his analogy. Let me know if you agree:
We can't afford Democrat's cure
Here’s the premise: “give Obama a Democratic Congress and the jobs will come roaring back.”
This is the mantra of liberals, as discussed in my earlier post today.
Is it logical?
I don’t know, because Obama had a liberal, Democratic Congress (forgive the redundancy) his first two years in office. They pursued very specific legislative initiatives in their hope to revive the waning economy and create jobs:
A day in the life on Facebook
“Shame on Teapublicans like Tom Quiner that think that wanting a Democratic Congress in 2014 can be separated from the outrage we all suffer because of the government shutdown and the sequester.”
This was the final salvo from a Facebook contact who disagreed with my politics.
Here’s the background …
