Why I believe in Santa Clause

By quinersdiner | December 24, 2015

One year, my sister and I concocted a scheme to catch Santa when he brought gifts to our house. We tied a string to his glass of milk (next to the plate of cookies we left for him) and strung it all the way to the upstairs where we slept and put a bell on the end. When Santa took a gulp of milk, the bell would ring and we would run down the stairs and confront our friend…

Don’t have a happy holiday, have yourself a Merry Christmas

By quinersdiner | December 23, 2015

“It borders on the misanthropic, not to mention mean-spirited, to want to deny nearly all of your fellow citizens the joy of having their Christmas parties called Christmas parties or force them to replace “Merry Christmas” with “Happy Holidays.” A majority-Christian country that treats non-Christians so well deserves better.”

“Assault rifles” are very popular, because they are lightweight and accurate, but not particularly powerful. In fact, they’re not very good for deer hunting because they don’t have enough kick to take them down. Some states don’t allow assault rifles for hunting, not because they are too powerful, but because they’re not powerful enough.

Much of the Obama legacy can be undone fairly quickly if Republicans regain the White House. If the president had enacted these changes via legislative action, much like Mr. Clinton and Mr. Reagan did, they would be difficult to undo.

But Mr. Obama didn’t do it the old-fashioned, American, democratic way, because he’s a lousy, preening politician who thinks he knows what’s best for the ‘little guy.’

Instead, he crammed it down our throats with his pen…

Jesus and John the Baptist had an interesting first meeting, as described in the Gospel of Luke (1:39-45):

Ho, ho ho!
