Does the earth face a mini ice age beginning in 15 years?

By quinersdiner | November 5, 2015

Will the ‘Maunder Medium’ usher in another ice age beginning in fifteen years? Not even scientists are sure. Perhaps the human-driven effect to which Mr. Funk refers will help mitigate the effects of the next mini ice age.

Debate idea

By quinersdiner | November 5, 2015

Four Republicans are brilliant debaters: Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz, Chris Christie and Carly Fiorina.

The Christie and Fiorina campaigns are lagging far behind. According to the Real Clear Politics average, Fiorina stands at 3.8% and Christie at 2%.

By Contrast, Rubio is in 3rd place (behind Carson and Trump) at 11% and Cruz is at 8.8%.

Here is an idea that could boost the efforts of Fiorina or Christie: one of them should challenge Bernie Sanders to a good old-fashioned one-on-one debate.

Mr. Sanders’ campaign needs a boost too. The RCP average has him trailing Hillary Clinton 54% to 32%.

The truth about Ronald Reagan

By quinersdiner | November 4, 2015

In this presidential cycle with Obama deficits on full display, Reagan’s record is invoked to make the case that Obama’s profligacy isn’t so bad after all.

One of the most tired diatribes has been the one that says “Reagan drove up the deficits and it took Clinton to fix it.”

Deficits during the Obama years

By quinersdiner | November 4, 2015

A Quiner’s Diner reader jumped to Barack Obama’s defense.

She cited information dispensed by the always ‘unbiased MSNBC’ (irony intended) to prove that it is Republicans, not Democrats, who are the profligate spenders of taxpayer money.

Home schooling offers hope for your country

By quinersdiner | November 4, 2015

Yesterday’s Quiner’s Diner ran a letter written by a Florida teacher who resigned due to her frustration with today’s demands on public school students and teachers. She said teaching reforms rob students of a developmentally appropriate education. So what is the alternative? How about home-schooling? Read on to learn about the effectiveness of home-schooling …

“I cannot justify making students cry anymore”

By quinersdiner | November 3, 2015

What happens when you let the federal government take over education?

Great teachers resign. And students cry.

“Jeb can fix it”

By quinersdiner | November 2, 2015

The Jeb Bush campaign has come up with a new campaign slogan:

“Jeb can fix it.”

Mistake.

Let’s start with the obvious. Fix what?

“Maybe it’s not the guns”

The Abortion Industry is Losing their Base

By quinersdiner | November 1, 2015

Good news: human abortion rates are declining.

The Des Moines Register editorial on October 21st gives all the credit for this seeming decline to contraception use, and none to pro life organizations like Iowans for Life who have been in the trenches educating Iowa kids on the dignity of life for four decades. ( “Contraceptives, not extremists reduce abortion rates.)

Is the Register correct?

Not according to the people who work in the field of human abortion…

“I hate abortion”

By quinersdiner | October 31, 2015

The Des Moines Register supports all things liberal.

It is refreshing when they run a guest editorial from someone with a contrarian position to liberal orthodoxy.

The ran such a piece today. It was written by a guy named Steve Freking. Here’s an excerpt:
