What is radical?

By quinersdiner | November 5, 2012

Democrats smear Republicans for their “radical” agenda. The definition of radical is something that is drastic or that is a fundamental change from the status quo. Let’s take a look at a few issues with which America grapples. Let’s compare agendas …

There Paul Revere saw the two lanterns hanging from the steeple warning of the impending invasion of the British army. One man, Paul Revere, rode the country side shouting the warning, “the British are coming, the British are coming.” One man, a dramatic positive impact.

A little humor for our Lutheran readers

By quinersdiner | November 2, 2012

A kindergarten teacher gave her class a “show and tell” assignment.  Each student was instructed to bring in an object that represented their religion to share with the class. The first student got up in front of the class and said, “My name is Benjamin and I am Jewish and this is a Star of David.” The second student got up in front of the class and said, “My name…

A message to undecided voters

By quinersdiner | November 1, 2012

Are there really any undecided voters in America? Maybe you are one. Maybe you are doing some soul searching. May I offer some perspective on why I am voting for the Romney/Ryan ticket? I preface these remarks by acknowledging that I did not support Mitt Romney in the primaries. If you read some of this blog’s posts from 2010 and 2011, you will find some sharp criticisms of Mitt Romney. Having cleared the air, I encourage you to vote for this ticket. I offer two broad reasons for doing so…

Is it a cover-up?

The Morality of Voting for an Imperfect Candidate

By quinersdiner | October 31, 2012

By Chrissythehyphenated   There is a principle in Moral Theology — the principle of double effect — which, under certain clearly defined conditions, permits us to perform an act that has both a good and an evil effect. In order for that act to be a moral choice, it must meet all four of the following conditions: 1. The act itself must be good or indifferent. 2. The good effect…

The Politics of Love

By quinersdiner | October 30, 2012

Christianity is built upon the beautiful Theology of Agape’(sacrificial) Love. Christ died on the cross so we might live. We, too, are called to live sacrificially for our neighbors, even if they are preborn. Barack Obama’s Theology of Abortion is built upon self-centeredness. It pits the well-being of one person against the well-being of his or her child. The politics of Love may very well swing this election …
