Trena honestly presents the human dilemma in young women with unplanned pregnancies. Despite the anguish of the situation, life is always the answer.

What is a draconian budget?

By quinersdiner | May 1, 2012

Has Mr. Ryan proposed severe budget cuts? No.He is not cutting the budget. Rather, he is slowing it’s growth from an unsustainable 4.5% per year to a manageable 3% per year …

Paul Ryan’s responsible budget for working class America

Why were Republicans thrown out of office in 2006? Because they spent too much of taxpayer’s money. Why were Democrats thrown out of office in 2010? Because they spent too much of taxpayer’s money. Is there a lesson to be learned here?

This is a ludicrous public investment. If Mr. Obama is re-elected, watch for more.

Sainthood for atheists

By quinersdiner | April 29, 2012

Will sainthood shake your faith in atheism? Quiner’s Diner has many faithful atheist readers. I appreciate your comments. You keep me on my toes. I hope I make you pause and think once and awhile. I’d like to call attention to the notion of sainthood for the benefit of my atheist readers. In fact, my Protestant and other non-Catholic readers may find this post interesting. Sainthood is in the news …

The indoctrination of our children

By Tom Quiner [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ao0k9qDsOvs&feature=player_embedded] “Hi, f*gg*t!” Quiner’s Diner is repulsed by anti gay slurs, anti-Christian slurs, anti-black, anti … well, you get the idea. The two words I bleeped in the sentence above are the two words that advice columnist, Dan Savage, uses to begin his column, “Savage Love.” He uses the words to reclaim them from those who wish to use them hatefully against those with same-sex attractions. By Tom Quiner [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3h8O7V-WxWQ&feature=player_embedded] Should government be bigger or smaller? These two approaches to governance are on the line this election cycle more than ever. President Obama has already expanded government beyond anyone’s imaginings, and has barely gotten started should he win reelection. Republicans think government is too big and would like to slow its growth at the very least, or begin contracting it. Which approach is correct? The video…

I don’t expect Barack Obama to talk about Mitt Romney’s Mormonism. The question is, will his surrogates? The Obama campaign will do so at their peril …

Have we become comfortably numb?

By quinersdiner | April 25, 2012

Twenty years ago I was in Germany for work and decided to visit the remains of the Dachau concentration camp. Dachau was the first concentration camp that the Nazi’s opened, less than two months after Hitler came into power. I can remember standing in the crematoria building looking at a picture on the wall that showed a pile of dead people awaiting the ovens. I then realized I was standing in the exact spot where the bodies were piled 50 years earlier. I wanted to throw up …

Today’s Herods

By quinersdiner | April 24, 2012

“The only differences between the Herod of old and the Herods of today are in the weapons used and the number of victims. “Herod used swords and spears to kill the Holy Innocents. Today’s Herods use abortion, “The Pill” and other chemical weapons. And whereas Herod killed a relatively small number of babies, today’s Herods have butchered literally hundreds of millions … with no end in sight!” People I know would be enraged by this quote …
